EUCC is closely following the implementation of the EU Nature directives in the marine environment and the progress at both member state and EU level. To this end, a report will be written concerning the lack of attention given to Natura 2000 sites in the marine area. Making optimal use of this study we will continue to promote the implementation of the Nature directives in the marine environment and coastal waters. To this end, we will also be keenly following the progress of the EU Marine Strategy.

Key principles for the EUCC will be the need for a harmonised approach of EU directives and the need to implement the principles of ecological networks that we have elaborated in our project European Coastal & Marine Ecological Network (ECMEN, see recently completed projects).

In the implementation of this action, we will make an optimal use of our participation in various European Fora of which we are a member as well excellent relations with a number of ministries in charge of ecological networks in Member and Accession States.
